Energized is an apt title for this new CD on Germany's Ruf Records. Bernard definitely knows his way around a guitar and this double live disc from Germany is funky. You may have heard of Bernard's father Luther. Well, he is represented on four of the 16 tracks. Bernard wrote or co-wrote eight originals, five of which are instrumentals. The album is rounded out with four other covers. The second disc starts off with a slide extravaganza to a Bo Diddly beat. When "Snake Bit Again" came on I just had to crank it up. Bernard is headlining Saturday night at the Mt Baker Festival and you can hear him tear it up like he did last October in Gottingen. Malcolm Kennedy |
