Bernard Allison

Higher Power

Ruf Records

Ruf Records released their first album in 1996 in order to let the world hear Luther Allison, "Live in Montreux 1976-1994”, today it remains the essential "live" recording of this great blues man. They also are proud of his son Bernard Allison who continues in his father’s footsteps. On February 22, 2005 Ruf Records will release Bernard’s newest cd “Higher Power”, released in Europe this past November.

Bernard states “since the passing of my father..I have started my own family..I feel..his presence, he’s still, even today, with me everywhere I go, and with the help of my higher power, there’s no going wrong”.

This is true as his music is one half “Allison” tradition and one half Bernard. Bernard opens with “I’ve Learned My Lesson” and attributes much to a “Higher Power”. The soul drenched “Standing on the Edge of Love”, is a passionate display that is all Bernard and deserves repeated listening.

Bernard Allision has authored seven of the thirteen tracks, while “Raggedy and Dirty” and “Into My Life” were written by his father Luther. The band consists of Bernard, Vocals and Guitars; Ron Sutton, Drums; Mike Vlahakis, Keyboards; and Jason Wilber, Bass. Guests include Bruce McCabe, Paul Diethelm, Jellybean Johnson and Brian Johnson.

“Stay with Me Tonight” is another highlight as Bernard plays to the women in the audience. On “Too Cool”, Bernard sings “you make me feel so good”, and that’s why he is such a favorite with the ladies. He sums it all up when he sings the “New Life I’m In”. If you like your blues supercharged, this one is for you.
